  • SFU's policy on hosting domain names is fairly strict. You will typically need the dean of your department to sponsor any request to have a non-SFU domain name hosted by SFU. (Example: You have a domain name called abc.com and you'd like it to point to a web page you have hosted on a server connected to an SFU network.)
  • Additionally, it should be noted that domain names cannot be directed to your SFU personal webspace. In other words, you can't point the domain name, abc.com, to www.sfu.ca/~yourAccount. What that means is that the domain name will have to point to a web page hosted by either a virtual server, or a physical server, on our network. You will also have to be prepared to manage the web server yourself. Talk to SIAT's IT support staff if you think this is something you want to do.
